Donate your mobile phone

Are you one of over one million people in the UK who got a new mobile phone for Christmas?

If so, you could help make a difference to missing and runaway children in London by donating your old phone handset to the Capital Christmas Appeal.

Please be quick, as for every phone donated before 9th January Help a London Child will receive at least £3.

£3 will allow the new Runaway Helpline text service to respond to 20 messages from children and young people: providing confidential advice; offering alternatives to running away and solutions for getting off the streets.

You still have all week to organise a mobile phone collection at work, to look in all your drawers and cupboards at home for any old handsets and ask your friends and family to do the same.

We need your phones BEFORE 9th January 2009!

  5. This is great! Its easy and not at all inconvenient for everyone to find an old mobile phone lying around. I have four kids and its such a harrowing thought that kids are out on the streets where they are so vulnerable to so many dangers! Its should be an insinct thing for anyone to want to keep their children safe and well.It makes you feel pretty helpless and angry, well done Capital!

  7. Fantastic idea. Most people have an old phone sitting around somewhere. I work for Children and Young Peoples services in Surrey and so it's particularly appropriate for me to promote to my colleagues. Thanks for the opportunity to do something for children and young people

  8. I think this is a brilliant idea, lots of people have old mobiles sitting around you might get a couple of quid back on them but it's great to be able to put them to a better use.I have 3 myself to donate but will ask family and friends .Thankfully I've never been homeless I hope this contributes a little to a happier xmas for someone.

  9. Good one Capital, as a family we have about 7 old phones & was loathed to simply chuck 'em out. This way I can get rid of them & feel saintly all at the same time ;)
