1. London Guide

What's in Greenwich

It's nice to get out of the city to explore a new part of London every now and then..or at least thats what I think anyway!

Living and working in London, as I have done for the past 6 years, you can get trapped by the familiarity of what you know, the bus route to work, the shops by your house, the bars close to work. London is made up of a collections of small villages, each with it's own personality and atmosphere. Just a hop skip and a jump away from somewhere you know could be an area of the city that is full of exciting new places waiting to be explored.

Visiting the same places can get dull but venturing out into the unknown can be a little daunting too. To guide the average Londoner around the hidden nooks and crannies of the city's limits we have the 'Take me shopping in…' section, where here at the Capital London Guide head office, we open your eyes to the hidden gems that lurk on almost every street in London.

Today we're taking a trip around Greenwich, in all it's historical glory. We’re taking you on a trip to the east, where a shopping trips more of a day out than an exhausting trawl. Check out some of the places below, or pop back to our shopping guide to explore more great places to flash the cash in London.

Next month we are looking for the best places to shopping south of the river. If you think that you could take us there let us know your favorite places to go.

Beer The Greenwich Union

After a hard day of shopping, our advice is to hit the best pub in the area. The Greenwich Union serves an array of house beers and has a relaxed atmosphere. It gets a thumbs up from you guys and us too.

A mixture of different shirts hanging on a rail. The Observatory

This shop has giant boards explaining how music and fashion intertwine, why mods were mods, and what beat poets and beatniks wore. Every once in a while they get some real gems. If you can handle the rummaging it well worth it.

Tattooed man's arm and hand putting a ring on a la Johnny Rocket

Jewelery to dribble over. With clients such as Kylie and Missy Eliot, Johnny is the jeweler to the stars in Greenwich. Great to browse around on the weekend but you have to book an appointment weekdays.
